|About / Description||
As a dual-degree professional (JD/MSW), mediator, trainer, speaker, policy nerd, storyteller, visual communicator, and innovator, I’ve spent my career leading and collaborating with others to develop creative approaches to solving complex issues facing families, children, and communities. During grad school, I founded SHIRA: Sexual Harassment, Information, and Advocacy, one of the first integrated harassment programs supporting workers in St. Louis. Since then, I’ve spent over 20 years working in courts and on behalf of the judicial branch in California on policies addressing family law, domestic violence, court coordination, self-represented litigants, race and gender bias issues, access to justice, mediation, and child custody/parenting time disputes. I have extensive experience teaching and working intersectionally on issues related to intimate partner, family, and gender-based/sexual violence and have worked with private and public entities on developing policies and procedures in those areas. I serve as adjunct faculty teaching domestic violence law at Golden Gate School of Law in the fall semester and used to teach at Washington University on race, gender, and law. Currently, I’m working with a social impact start-up, coParenter, as the lead on Innovation & Insights to provide communication tools and online dispute resolution for separated parents and encouraging those of us working in the law to communicate more effectively visually with icons, drawing, and accessible design. I love presenting, training, and working with folks to come up with solutions to problems that work best for the family, organization, or community.
